Mr. William

He's arrived! William John Merrill Lloyd will soon be turning three months. These past few months have been full of joy, some nearly all-nighter infant parties, laughs, tears, lots of help, name changes, diapers, smiles and life. William made his glorious debut right on his due date; the last day of July at 1:55 am. He came just two hours after we checked into the hospital. He "slid" (compared to Lily) out of me and dear Brant got to catch him and announce the gender (it was a surprise). I am so grateful for the amazing mid-wife's at American Fork hospital. Claudia Killebrew and her apprentice helped at the birth and were incredible. As was Branty - he makes for a wonderful doula. We stayed at the hospital for a day and a half, then headed home to our new life with two children :)

So many things I want to remember. William is the sweetest little guy. A mini Brant, really :) The first few days felt a little different trying to care for a newborn and chase little Lily around while I was still recovering. Luckily, so many people were willing to help - it's amazing how amazing help feels when you really need it! My mother later flew in and stayed with us for a good ten days and I learned why some people have maids and nannies. It's a great feeling :)

William's name took quite a bit of searching. The morning we were leaving the hospital, we still had not decided on a name. Before we left, we went with a system in the front of a name book that helps you find a name for your child. We listed on the room's whiteboard our top ten names, and went through and gave various points to each of the names from different categories. It was pretty intense. At the end, Samuel had the highest score overall - we liked the name, so we left the hospital with no official name for the little guy, but the plan to try out Sam for a few days and see if it stuck. It did. For two months. His baby blessing was planned for October 3rd, and a couple weeks prior, Brant and I both expressed how we just weren't so sure about his name being Samuel. So again, we began the re-search. And after just a few days, we both felt like William might be a better fit. We tried it out for a while and by his blessing day, it became official. Along with an added middle name... we just like to complicate things, really. Prior to the blessing day, we'd talked about adding a middle name so he would have both of his grandfather's names, instead of just one. So, William John Merrill Lloyd is this child's name. It is a beautiful name. Very long, but we'll just call him William for short anyways :) Or Will. Will see. Haha. Anyways, we feel it will be a beautiful blessing in his life to have two men with such good hearts in his name. AND, fun fact, when you search William John Merrill Lloyd in google, nobody comes up. He might be the only one out there with that full name.

We are so grateful this little guy is here. The smiles and coo's of babies are one of the sweetest things on this planet. And it's been fun to watch Lily take on the roll of big sister, who by the way, is now officially walking!! That's another blog post that will probably never be written, but we are so thrilled she finally learned how to use those legs.

Life is good, and challenging, and beautiful. Happy October!
