I am a fan of learning. However, I am no longer in school these days and have yet to find copious amounts of free time. Because of this, I have come to be so grateful for learning that can be done auditorily. That is now a word:) This Fall, Brant introduced me to TED Talks! Have you heard of them? I was kind of skeptical at first, but started listening to some and now feel like a whole new world has opened up.
TED stands for Technology, Entertainment and Design. It started in 1984, and has since become a hub for presenting and sharing ideas. Like really cool ones. Most talks are just 10-20 minutes long. There are talks ranging from creativity, education, the importance of introverts (one of my favorites), desertification, growing meat without killing animals, the world's oldest people... the list goes on and on. Listening to TED Talks has certainly nourished my sense of wonder. Some days after work, I don't have anything really exciting to tell Brant about my day. But, if I've listened to a TED Talk about traits that the world's oldest people have in common, then - wallah - interesting conversation unfolds.
You can listen to them through this website: http://www.ted.com/talks. Maybe you've heard of them already, but if not - happy exploring!
