Dear Blog,
Where to begin. It is raining right now. How I love the rain. Rain is to Utah, as sunshine is to Portland. It is so fun to watch, hear and feel water fall from the sky - especially when you live in a desert. We have a car port with a tin roof attached to the side of our house, which makes it sound like it's raining twice as hard as it actually is.
These past few weeks, I've found myself reflecting on motherhood. I am so so grateful to be a mother. It is such a beautiful, joyful, stressful and entertaining thing. There are days where it feels like true bliss. And other days where my patience is stretched and wisdom in dealing with a toddler seems lacking. But there truly is nothing I'd rather be doing.
A few funnies from late - Lily currently has two favorite phrases. One of them is: "Oh my gosh" (pronounced oh my go-ish). She overheard it a few weeks ago, and loves to use it any chance she gets. Whether she just found a dead fly or wants me to look at her lovely wart on her right foot. The way she says it makes me smile almost every time.
Her other favorite phrase is: "Hi! How are you?" Whenever we are outside and she sees a neighbor, or even in the grocery store the other day to a stranger, she'll enthusiastically yell, "Hi!! How are you?" In which people usually respond, "Good, how are you?" And she tells them she's good. It's the cutest thing. If she knows the persons name, she'll throw that in too, with a "Hi Scott! How are you?" etc. etc.
William lately has finally realized he doesn't have to scream for more food, but instead can say "more." Hallelujah! This doesn't mean he never screams anymore, but it's about half of what it used to be.
He's still holding back walking for some reason. He races around the house in his little walker and takes two steps by himself frequently, but has yet to be enticed to walk much further. It could be because he is such a fast crawler - why walk when you can fly crawling, right?
Well, that's enough for one post. And it's still raining! Some day I'll learn how to end a blog post eloquently, but until then - good night!
