Miracles

Looking for God's hand each day, is something that has helped me through this experience. These are some of the miracles we have seen:

-Emmett is with us. In July, we learned that he has thanatophoric skeletal dysplasia. It was expected that he would pass away at birth, due to the severity of his condition.

-Peace. God has given us the gift of peace throughout this journey.

-My mother-in-law arrived nine hours before my water broke. We weren't sure when she should come, as I usually go late, but we all prayed about it and God blessed her with guidance on that matter. (Emmett was two days early).

-Labor started on its own and I did not have to be induced.

-Emmett's name. We search, discussed, and prayed about a name for months. We liked the middle name Nelson, but could not land on a first name. Finally, about five hours before he was born, I was walking the halls of the hospital (while Brant took a much needed nap:) and the name Emmett came to my heart. When I returned to our room, I looked up it's meaning. In English it means "whole," in Hebrew, it means "truth." Emmett Nelson Lloyd.

-Emmett survived labor, and was able to start breathing on his own once he was born.

-Emmett can eat on his own.

-One of my favorite midwife's (who also delivered Lewis) on-call shift started an hour and a half before Emmett was born. She is an angel!

-It was raining the morning Emmett arrived. It is a miracle every time it rains here in the desert.

-We were able to bring Emmett home. We had nothing prepared for bringing a baby home - Brant climbed into our attic and brought down the bassinet the day we came home, and assembled it with the boys. Learned what the essentials are: diapers, wipes, blankets, a place for the baby to sleep.

-The day we came home, we were able to have his baby blessing in our home. It was a sacred occasion.

-Jesus has helped carry this load. We have felt the miracle of this scripture throughout this experience:

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light." Matthew 11: 28-30

So much gratitude - for miracles; for this time we have with Emmet; for the love, faith and prayers of many; for our Savior and Friend, Jesus Christ; for the faith and knowledge we have of eternity and God's plan of salvation.
